Why This Matters
When danger happens, the bad guy chooses the time and place. You get seconds—maybe less—to decide and act. The first time you use verbal commands, create distance, or defend yourself should NOT be when your life is on the line. You need to practice NOW.
Most training focuses on shooting mechanics. We concentrate on DECISIONS—the kind you'll actually face in real life. Should you run? Hide? Fight? Call 911? Draw your weapon? Use pepper spray? Each choice depends on distance, time, and what's happening around you.
What We'll Do
Using interactive images on screen, a 10-second timer, hands-on props, and realistic scenarios, we'll train you to:
- Recognize danger fast
- Understand the 9 decision options (including the one most people forget)
- Manage distance and time under pressure
- Practice with inert pepper spray, verbal commands, 911 calls, and SIRT training pistols
- Work through adrenaline, confusion, and altered perceptions
- Stack decisions quickly and cycle through your tools
We use the Recognition-Primed Decision model (read Gary Klein's *Sources of Power*) and Edward T. Hall's proxemics research to teach you how professionals make split-second decisions. We've created **Reactionary Zones** based on this science: MOST time (25+ feet), SOME time (12-25 feet), LEAST time (6-12 feet), NO time (under 6 feet).
The Bottom Line
All scenarios happen to YOU. You ARE your first responder. We'll guide you, diagnose your process, help you correct mistakes, and make you PRACTICE. You'll crawl, walk, run, then sprint through decision-making drills.

WE SUPPLY: 300 image cards, training tools (inert pepper spray, SIRT pistol, flashlight, prop phone), eye protection, and all instructional materials
YOU BRING: Open mind, note-taking stuff, outdoor weather gear, sack lunch, water
Who Should Come
Everyone. No experience? Perfect. Tons of experience? Come and add more tools. Ages 13+ welcome (minors need an adult; no lethal scenarios for under 18).
This is NOT a shooting class or combatives class. NO LIVE PEPPER SPRAY.
About a week before class, you'll get homework to study.
